A good portrait starts with a good photograph.

Natural light, eye-level angles, and the expression you know best. A phone photo is perfectly fine.

1. Find good natural light. Avoid harsh flash and deep shadows across their face.
2. Get to their eye level. Keep the camera steady and let their natural expression come through.
3. Keep their face clear. Choose a photo where their eyes, markings, ears, and coat are easy to see.
